Anis Annisa Maryam (or just ‘Annisa’) was born in Bandung, Indonesia. Her multitude of experiences of over 6 years in the Indonesian art scene is ranging from student artist; children art teacher; museum manager; gallerist; and academic researcher.

Annisa received her Bachelor’s Degree (2013) and Master’s Degree cum laude (2017) in Intermedia Art and Art History from Bandung Institute of Technology, and subsequently received a full grant from MEXT Japan as a research fellow in the Department of Intermedia Art, Tokyo University of the Arts (2017-2018).

As the gallerist in Bale Project (2015 - 2017), Annisa represented both aspiring and prominent Indonesian artists at international art fairs and festivals, such as Bazaar Art Jakarta 2015, Art Stage Jakarta 2016 and Art Stage Jakarta 2017. As program manager at Wot Batu (2015 - 2017), Annisa created the initial structure, branding for the exhibition guide of the museum’s permanent collection, special events, seasonal programs and collaborations.  

She moved to Vancouver in 2018, and almost immediately pulled into the fascinating intersection of nonprofit organizations and the arts community that brought her to work closely with great organizations and initiatives, such as Cinevolution, The World is Bright (Impact Campaign), Story Money Impact and Inside Green. She is now an independent researcher, manager & maker specializing in art, technology and the in-betweens. She is based in Vancouver, Canada and Bali, Indonesia.
